Release notes for Toussaint Louverture. (antiX-M7.5)
This release concentrates on 3 main areas.
1. Customised icewm. 2. antiX Control Centre. 3. smxi script integration.
All three options were from community input to make antiX as user-friendly and flexible as possible.
1. Fully customised icewm. antiX-M7.5 is probably the best configured OOTB icewm distro, thanks to the great work by OU812. Icewm in antiX-M7.5 works as a fully functioning and stylish desktop, with tools to customise as the user wishes.
2. antiX Control Centre. Inspired by the Control Centre in TinyMe, OU812 developed one for antiX. Users can now carry out desktop, admin, networking and hardware related tasks from one central control centre.
3. smxi script integration. Thanks to h2, the smxi script can be used in antiX. This script enables users to keep their antiX rolling along and fully maintained. This has allowed antiX to be incredibly flexible (even more so the antiX-base version) If users wish they can 'sidux' or 'sid' their system, install newer kernels from Debian and sidux, install graphics drivers (ATI and nVidia), install other desktop environments such as xfce, kde, and install virtualbox and lots more!
Main upgrades from VETËVENDOSJE!(antiX-M7.2)

For users that have antiX-M7(0.1), antiX-M7.2 already installed, you can upgrade to antiX-M7.5 by using the antiX-upgraders script:
http://www.mepisimo.com/antix/antiX-upgrader
Download to your home/user folder, make executable and run as root in a terminal ./antiX-upgrader.sh
Please read the script carefully. It is pretty basic, but it gets the job done. Fully upgrading from antiX-M7 or antiX-M7.2 will install approx. 330MB of upgrades.
Have fun!

antiX-M7.2-beta1.iso (c320MB) available for testing.
Dist-upgraded to 16 March 2008.

At the moment I have kept the same graphics as Lysistrata, but they will be changed when antiX-M7.3 goes final.
The kernel is the same version, but has been patched to fix the vmsplice() issue. UnicornRider scripts are still included with adjustments for lean cheatcode. Extra UnicornRider script to (hopefully) auto-remove the proc errors when booting the newly installed antiX.
There is no need for users to remove their existing antiX-M7(.01).
Could testers please give feedback particularly about wicd, ceni and whether the proc messages during boot disappear when installed.
Have fun!

An xdelta patch is available for download for those that would like to experiment with some scripts now included in antiX. (Courtesy of UnicornRider). The scripts are ideally used in livecd mode and include cheatcodes nogui, lean, mean and kbd=ch (and others) to speed up and lighten a livecd boot as well as a script that automatically replaces the slim login screen box when antiX is installed to hard drive.
- nogui = slim login manager is disabled.
- lean = cupsd, lighttpd, rsync, powersaved and mpd are disabled at boot.
- mean = disables network ie you will have to manually configure net connection via Admin/Tools>Mepis Admin>Network
- kbd=ch = sets a Swiss-German keyboard

If you have recently downloaded antiX-M7-beta2 and you want to install some kde app, you will find you cannot due to dependency problems. This is because antiX temporarily got ahead with gcc and cpp from Debian testing.
Easiest solution and an upgrade: Install aptitude from synaptic or
apt-get install aptitude (it will also upgrade apt and synaptic)
then
aptitude update aptitude dist-upgrade
and agree to the first solution offerred.
You will then have a fully dist-upgraded antiX (to Mepis beta3) and you will be able to install kde apps.
Alternatively, after installing aptitude,
aptitude update aptitude install libavahi-qt3-1
Or
aptitude update aptitude install libssp0
You will not need to use (I hope) aptitude again.
Edit: It isn't really a bug as such, but a feature to exclude kde :-)

antiX-M7-beta2 also now available from the MEPIS mirrors.

22 August 2007.
antiX-M7-beta1 is available for testing.
This version is pretty rusty, has similar issues as Mepis7-beta1, but I'd like people to test it out and let me know what they think.
It is not yet available on the Mepis mirrors, I need some feedback before it gets uploaded.
antiX-M7-beta1 is about 280MB and is best installed to hard-disk, rather than used as a livecd (at the moment). Minimum 128MB RAM is recommended, though installed it should work well with 64MB RAM plus swap.

Edit: user=demo password=demo You cannot login as root! If you need to use root in a terminal, password=root
To exit from the login screen user=reboot password=root To shut down user=halt password=root
antiX-M7-beta1 is no longer available, antiX-M7-beta2 will be available for testing very soon.
03 August 2007.
Work is starting on antiX-Mepis7. This will be based on MEPIS7 ie Debian Etch. Being based on the Debian repos will give developers and users much more flexibility.
